(Untitled) Mexico /387
I never understood what people meant when they say "I travelled to (such and such place) and it completely transformed me". I couldn't grasp how a simple change in scenery could induce the kind of spiritual awakening they so excitedly describe. That is, until I came to the beautiful mountainous city of Monterrey, Mexico.
So I've spent 2 and a half months here on a university exchange programme and today, my dear friend Claudia reminded me that I should be penning my thoughts on my experiences, lest I forget. (And I forget a lot in very little time. For example, I can't remember for the life of me, a single item of clothing from the wardrobe I left behind in Singapore. I also cannot remember whether I packed my notes from the previous semester before leaving. Or how my little brother looks like.)
I suppose it makes sense to keep a journal. All these new ideas, these revelations about living and being that I most serendipitously encounter here may be clear to me now, but there's... (more)
MyWifeSheena A Book By It's Cover
Let me ask a question.Which image would you select off the top of your head to have a relationship with if the images were of real beings?I'm betting most people would choose the image of the beautiful woman. What if i were to tell you the beautiful woman was a real nasty character while the other one was kind and loving. All the characteristics you would want in a person.Granted the other one looks dark, mysterious, and possibly evil;but is still loving and kind.Would you still choose the beautiful woman who has a nasty and uncaring personality or the other one who is kind, caring, and loving?Just like in the physical world where you shouldn't go around a person by looks so it is in the spiritual world. This reminds me of that old saying "Don't go judging a book by it's cover."
The Common Ills Iraq snapshot
Iraq snapshot Tuesday, October 21, 2014. Chaos and violence continue, the US 'precision' drops from the air results in the Islamic State getting a cache of weapons, the Yazidis may be facing genocide (didn't Susan Rice claim they were a success story?), new scare tactics regarding the US mid-terms should be rejected, doomsday scenarios actually contain some possible seeds of change, and much more.
Jordain Carney (National Journal) explains, "The U.S. military is trying to determine if an air-dropped bundle of weapons intended for Kurdish fighters in Syria is now in the hands of ISIS militants.A video posted Tuesday to a YouTube account affiliated with the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria appears to show militants with the weapons bundle, which included grenades and mortars." Diaa Hadid (AP) adds, "The cache of weapons included hand grenades, ammunition and rocket-propelled grenade launchers, according to a video uploaded by a media group... (more)
Truth in Love "There Will Be Pestilences ..."
So they asked
Him, saying, âMessiah, but when will these things be? And what sign
will there be when these things are about to take place?â
And He said: âTake heed that you not be deceived. For many will come in
My name, saying, âI am He,â and, âThe time has drawn near.â Therefore
do not go after them. But when you hear of wars and commotions, do not
be terrified; for these things must come to pass first, but the end will
not come immediately.â
Then He said to them, âNation will rise against nation, and kingdom
against kingdom. And there will be great earthquakes in various places,
and famines and pestilences; and there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven. Luke 21:7-11 NKJV
